About Bio

You are never alone on your journey to a healthy way of life.

Welcome to Fresh Energy! My name is Lindsey Henslee. I was born and raised in St. Louis, MO. I relocated to Boulder, CO 2014 and now I reside in the beautiful Grand Valley of the Western Slope. I wanted to indulge in all the outdoor activities that the beautiful Rocky Mountains have to offer.

It’s interesting all of the twists and turns that my life has taken to get me to where I am at today. I went through a rough patch back in 2009 and I was emotionally eating and drinking. I got to a point where I had zero energy on a daily basis. My clothes became more and more snug, my attitude was poor, and my zest was pretty much drained. I finally had a moment one day when I looked in the mirror and I said “Linds, get up, it’s time to get moving again!” I began running again (I played a lot of sports in my youth, mostly soccer) so running became a hobby for me again slowly over time. It brought me back out of my slump. I happened to stumble across a 5k race near my hometown and the organization that the race was supporting was Living Well Village. After the race I met with the volunteer coordinator and I said to her “I want to be a part of your circle, I want to help change lives.” So I spent my summer weekends that year volunteering at Camp Jump Start which changed my life forever. It’s an obesity camp for children and preteens. Those kids inspired me more than anyone I had ever met!

This crazy journey called life

Fast forward a few years…. I continued to run and completed a couple half marathons as well as summited several 14ers (which I would have said ‘no way’ to in years prior.) I was in the gym learning how to weight train and building strength like I had never felt before. I found my energy and zest again! Once I moved to Colorado I realized I wanted to fulfill my passion to help others change their life through health, fitness and nutrition. I craved the knowledge and wanted to learn as much as I could on the subject. I enrolled in grad school at the age of 35 (scary!) and it is my greatest accomplishment so far. I graduated summa cum laude with a Master’s of Science in Nutrition and Human Performance with a concentration in Sports Nutrition. I also have a personal training certification through NASM.

All was well until I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis in 2017 followed by SIBO (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth). It was an uphill battle to say the least! I experienced many months of bedridden illness. I felt weak and had to begin from scratch once my doctor cleared me. Returning to my workouts I felt mentally and physically overwhelmed, being out of breath on the treadmill and barely being able to lift less than half of the weight I used to. Learning to overcome my illness taught me to push past my limits and rebuild my strength…once again. I am currently the strongest I have ever been and I have more energy than ever before! I am also in remission. I owe it all to nutrition and prioritizing my health.

If you can relate to my story and you want to join me on this crazy journey called life, I am here to support you. Let’s work together and regain the energy and life that you deserve!
